Hi, I’m Romi Moondi, and words forever rattle in my head. I try my best to put them to use with novels, short stories, screenplays, and ad copy, but even after all of that…the word count runneth over.
I guess that’s why blogs were invented.
It was my early days of posting three times a week that inspired my first novel, and while I don’t have as much time for blogging as I used to, I still do enjoy it quite a lot.
In recent years, there’s been a lot more writing, some publishing of books, and a good deal of travelling too. This blog recalls some of those travel experiences (particularly the ones in Paris), along with some thoughts on writing, and occasional thoughts on anything
My latest thoughts are focused on the BIGGEST NEWS: My romantic comedy 24 Hours in Paris will be in bookstores in North America on May 10th!
[I interrupt this summary to say: 24 Hours in Paris received a starred review from Publishers Weekly (a really impassioned one that blew my mind!), and it was also the Publishers Weekly #1 Summer Romance Read Pick for 2022 (which additionally blew my mind)!!]
This dream has been a long time in the making, and I hope you’ll enjoy this dual-POV, POC-led romantic comedy as much as I enjoyed writing it. It’s basically a story about two very different co-workers, who wind up stuck in Paris for an extra 24 hours after missing their flight. Chaos ensues, sparks fly, and all along, you’ll get to enjoy an immersive tour of Paris (inspired by the endless hours I’ve spent there—though it’s never enough)! In terms of the romance aspect, it’s light on the cheesiness but heavy on the feelings. There’s some yearning in there too—who doesn’t love a good yearning session on a Friday night? Oh, just me? Okay then. There’s a good dash of humour in the book as well, and I hope it’ll make you smile.

I decided to treat myself tonight, so I made some popcorn and read all the articles/entries in your new blog. As a fan of “Year of the Chick,” I am not a bit disappointed in your new blog.
You are a talented and witty writer with an interesting point-of-view; but I suppose you know all that. I particularly enjoyed “Little India: The Textile Shops… .” I have experience in India and with Indian immigrants, and I have a fondness for Indian culture — more curry, please, and a few samosas. Also I have been adopted into an Indian family. From my perspective, you ring true, and funny also. Keep it up.
Any chance that you would be interested in a 61 year old man from small-town Kansas who is fat and not rich,though not balding either, and who would adore you? Should I have my Indian elder brother contact your father?

David: my dad left India for better opportunities I suppose, and my mom left years later ’cause she was newly married to my dad, who had returned from the motherland to meet her, nod his head, marry her, and bring her back, hahaha 😉

Your blog is funnier than your tNBW story (which I really like as you know). But the humour really shines through more with the blog. Possibly because it’s not being filtered (if you see what I mean) by being turned into fiction.

Thanks so much for your blog! I discovered it while googling my name, and I LOVE your post about “The Time I Was an Actual Boy…”
It has taken me a long time to learn to live with my name. When I was in grade school (way back in the fifties) it was a highly unusual name and all the kids made fun of me. (Actually, my mother made up the name from Ruth + Naomi, my grandmothers’ names.)
I went through a period of going by my middle name (Noel), but went back to Romi eventually.
Then I went through a period of reading all about gypsies, who–as you may know–call their language “Romany,” and one of the names for them is RomA. I discovered that the Roma are thought to have originally come from India. There is even a gypsy organization in Spain called “Romi.”
I look forward to reading more of your blog, as it is really very interesting.

I found out about you on water cooler thread specefically about Langtons international agency, presently i am awaiting word back regarding my partial. I live in Toronto,Canada and I feel awful that we dont have alot of literary agents to coose from. Last post I read you stated you got Langtons as your agents. Prior to that how was your process querying I think I have sent to all agents interest in paranormal romance and I have recieved a load of rejections but the door is not shut yet like I said Langtons and another agent that loves vamps requested the full…i am waiting on my editor to send it back to me,the agent told me to take all the time I need but the faster I send it…hopefully it will be received with a offer for representation…it will happen eventually …I think getting pubblished is another story send me back a line girl with all your wonderful news.

Hey Romi, i have read your small story of your trip to Paris on Wattpad. it was nice i thoroughly enjoyed reading it. i have been to Paris recently and the experiences i had there were quite similar to yours especially the one on the bridge, the Indian guy with padlock. I really had great time in Paris which i will cherish for the rest of my life.
